The Quitman Man, arrested in connection with GBI death investigation

Quitman-das Georgia Bureau of Investigation has arrested a Quitman man in connection with the death of a 25-year-old man.

The GBI has arrested Khalil Proctor (20 years old) from Quitman, GA, with serious assault, possession of a firearm during the inspection of a crime and crime in connection with the death of Edward Denson, 25, from Quitman, GA.

On Monday, April 28, 2025, around 10:15 p.m., the Quitman Police Department contacted the GBI and asked for support from a shootout that took place in the 200 Block of W. Hill Street in Quitman, GA, where Denson was shot. Dorson was declared dead in the hospital.

During the investigation, Proctor identified as the alleged shooter and received arrest for Proctor.

On Tuesday, April 29, 2024, Proctor joined the Brooks County prison.

Denson's body is sent to the GBI crash laboratory, where an autopsy is carried out.
