Biratnagar: The high -ranking Nepalese congress manager Dr. Shekhar Koirala said that the Interior Minister Ramesh Lekhak should withdraw in the most recent “visiting visa” scandal for moral reasons after his alleged participation.

Koirala in conversation with journalists in his hometown Biratnagar said Koirala that the minister had to take responsibility because the immigration department falls directly below the Interior Ministry.

“The most important thing here is that this problem affects him directly because the immigration office is under his ministry,” said Koirala. “He should say: 'I'm clean, but I step back from moral responsibility – well, well and form an investigation committee.”

He emphasized that the resignation of Interior Minister Lekhak would prove the accountability and would help maintain the public's trust. “That would reflect his moral status,” said Koirala.

The controversy escalated the Commission to investigate the abuse of authority (CIAA) at the beginning of this week the common secretary Tirtharaj Bhattarai, head of the immigration office at Tribhuvan International Airport. Minister Lekhak brought this incident examined.

In October 2024, Minister Lekhak appointed Bhattarai to post for the replacement of the then chief chief Suresh Panthi. Bhattarai had a controversial background, and allegations of a Visa attitude bat strengthened shortly after his appointment.

Sources said that the Interior Ministry, after learning about the impending raid on the CIAA, protected Bhattarai by hastily going back to the ministry on Tuesday evening. Before the transfer could be completed, the CIAA took it into custody and association Minister Lekhak with the scandal.

Koirala claimed that Lekhak should withdraw from both the party and the government for reasons of transparency and call and should enable an independent examination.
