We still don't show the Mario Kart ai 'Skandal' how to talk about generative art

If screenshots of Mario Kart World started online at complete circulation with strange visual artifacts such as distorted advertising boards, broken Kerning and strange texture decisions-many accepted the same: this must be shaped with AI generation.

Commentators called it within a few hours. Allegations flew over social media. Generative AI, they said, had crept into Nintendo's workflow. And while this assumption proved to be incorrect (Nintendo refused publicly with ai-generated pictures), the controversy did not quickly fade.

This was not the first time that the fans suspected AI, and it will certainly not be the last. Because the Ki art tells – uncanny inconsistencies, distorted text, strange depth and lighting instructions. Since more people encounter generative content every day, we are talking fluently to discover these patterns. However, this flow ability also means that we develop a kind of collective paranoia. Even studios who are known for Polish, such as Nintendo, are not immune.

There is a popular argument that “AI is only one tool, like any other”. I don't buy that. Ai to say that it is just a different software suite is a calming simplification. Photoshop enables your skills. Genai replicates them. Or in some cases overtake them. It is not a trowel – it is a bricklayer. They no longer create every detail. They lead the result. This is more like creative leadership than the art of craftsmanship.

It is also what AI makes so powerful in the right hands. With the right supervision, generative tools can massively increase the speed and volume of creative performance. A single artist can design several ideas, test variations and test instructions in a fraction of the time. We already see how indie studios Ki use for sound sample decks, character model leaves and level ideas -things that used to take entire teams.

But none of this is important when people assume that AI was the cause. In the Court of Public opinion, “It looks, AI” is now a valid criticism – similar to the past two decades, the short writing “It Soul Photoshopped” for the unautthentity. Just as Photoshop was once regarded as a tool for manipulation as an improvement, AI is now in a similar position: every visual anomaly or imperfection is quickly laid on its influence regardless of the true cause. The medium becomes a scapegoat, whether it has ever been involved or not.

Creative supervision: No AI assets should be entered into an end product without being checked and approved by a person with domain knowledge.
Documentation: When AI was used, when and how? Follow it. Own it.
Ethical procurement: Feed your models not to stolen or non -licensed data. Respect the artists from whom your tools learn.
Internal standards: Define what “good” looks like in your studio and train your AI tools -and your teams -to strive for this standard.
