After an injury, Northampton Saints Boss offers an update to George Furbank: Planet Rugby

Northampton Saints Director of Rugby Phil Dowson has a detailed full-back George Furbank in order after having suffered a pathological head injury in the Champions Cup final.

Furbank, who appeared for the first time since her quarter-finals against Castes in March, was selected after only two minutes in his team's 28:20 defeat against Bordeaux-TTT depth in the showpick in Cardiff after a collision with opposite numbers of Romain Buros.

The English international was later seen under the other play squad on the edge in the second half, but did not return to the field.

George Furbank Update after “Dumb Luck” injury in the Champions Cup final

The Club captain Furbank has become an essential part of this Northampton Saints team in recent years, but has had a reasonable share of injury this season.

He broke his arm in her Champions Cup Pool victory against the bulls in Pretoria and spent three months on the side before returning against Castes.

In this game he also took an overview of the same arm and was later excluded for another magic, giving her famous semi -final victory against Leinster.

This is a new injury to him with which he can also deal with now, especially before the England tour to Argentina in summer, but after the game, the Saints boss Dowson spoke to suffer this last blow

“George is okay, he is very frustrated. Obviously, he worked hard to return from his arm injury and other muscular parts. Then it is a real frustration for him if he has stupid happiness and is excluded from the game early,” he said.

“However, he is physically okay.”

Furbank was not the only early injured person who had suffered from the principality. With the other man, to whom James Ramm, he also hobbled moments after Alex Coles had the first attempt at the game.

This envelope could not have come at a worse point in time, since in his first game since his injury in the six nations, they had to use the returning Ollie-Schlittenholme for 77 minutes for 77 minutes.

“It clearly has a great influence,” said Dowson of the injuries and retraining.

“It is not ideal. It changes things, but that is the jumping point to have a bank in which the players who would like to go on and so they go in and are so impressive, but it's not ideal.”
