Thefts overnight at Hershey Fresh Market some of them force closures

A section of a popular market in Dauphin County is closed on Saturday after a break -in overnight, said a manager.

The break -in took place in the Hershey Fresh Market on the 100 block of the Town Square Drive in Derry Township, at some point between 3:30 a.m. and 4 a.m., according to Market Manager Lisa Shull.

The police from Derry Township said two people broke into the market by a rear window.

After the burglars had smashed the window to the ground level, they opened the ATMs on the first and second floor, the police said. The two suspects then took off the money boxes near the Norfolk Southern Railroad tracks and emptied them.

Two ATMs were collapsed, said Shull. However, an unknown amount of money was stolen.

The lower level of the Hershey Fresh Market remains closed on Saturday after the break -in in the early morning. The popular market houses over 40 providers and was opened in 2022.Lisa Shull

The lower market level will remain closed on Saturday, said Shull. However, the “first floor” of the market will be in operation until 8 p.m.

No suspects or arrests were announced from Saturday.
