Red Sox star Alex Bregman begins with a serious injury

What hoped to be a minor injury, turned out to be devastating for the third Baseman of Boston Red Sox Alex Bregman.

“Yes, quite heavy on the right Quad-Stamm,” Bregman admitted to reporters after Boston's Extra Internings had won against the Baltimore Orioles in Fenway Park on Saturday afternoon, as can be seen on Nesn's postgame reporting. “Quite similar to the injury of 2021).”

Bregman admitted that he hadn't expected the results of the MRI to consider how he felt when he left the game early after rounding off the first basis in the fifth inning.

“I was very surprised,” he said. “But it's what it is. I will try to take it every day and to link rehab.”

While he played for the Houston Astros in the 2021 season, Bregman only played 91 games after suffering a left -wing quad injury. He hoped to avoid the same kind of injury in his right quad.

“I felt better yesterday when I was injured. Then I couldn't really fall asleep last night, so I started to hurt pretty well,” he said. “Then after the MRI I found out that it was pretty tense, and now it is time to concentrate on rehab. Nobody (the injuries) felt really good.”

After the Red Sox had gone through the orioles with a 6-5 10th Inning victory in game 1 of a double header, Boston Bregman put the 10-day injury list and remembered Prospect Marcelo Mayer from Triple-A Worcester. The club also handed over the injured first Baseman Triston Casas to the 60-day il.

Bregman missed 10 weeks in 2021. He tried not to set a schedule about how long it will be.

“There is nothing else to do than try to get better every day and to concentrate on rehab and dominate it. And try to stack as many good days as possible and return as quickly as possible,” he said. “It is only day by day, there is no schedule for it. So concentrate on the next day.”
