Death of a Master manipulator – by Jeff Stein

Micheel Ledeen (2018, formiche.net)

Michael Ledeen, the controversial national security journalist, scholars and schemeers, the died At the age of 83 on May 17th, after a stroke, a significant hidden role played, which led to the US invasion of Iraq in the USA and to other productions of false intelligence for political purposes.

Ledeen was prominently presented in The Italian letterA 2007 book by Spytalk, who contributed to the editor Peter Eisner and Knut Royce, a Pulitzer Prize winner reporters at Newsday. The death ads published this week did the key role that LEDEE played in the production of secret services, in order to justify catastrophic military campaign in order to displace the Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein from power. The main goal of overthrowing the regime Estimated 2 trillion dollarswas assessed as military and diplomatic disaster, which led to 37,000 US victims, at least 200,000 and possibly one million of Iraqi civilians due to war-related measures and the creation of a virtual Iranian client state in Baghdad.

It was hardly Leade's first trip to the Skullduggery. In 1980 he was “involved in one” five years later by Wall Street JournalDisinformation campaign“To discredit President Jimmy Carter, Billy's brother in favor of Republican candidate Ronald Reagan. He also published discredited theories that Soviet Bulgaria behind the attack against Pope John Paul II.” Ronald Reagan Newly installed in the White House, ”wrote journalist Craig Unger in Vanity fair, “The so -called Bulgarian connection made perfect Cold War Propaganda. Michael Ledeen was one of his loudest supporters and promoted him on television and in newspapers around the world. ”

Ledeen's role in Iraq tragedy is a case study for manipulation of secret – and obviously dishonest – intelligent relationships for political goals.

The Italian letter found that Ledeen, an unofficial envoy of the George W. Bush government, was deeply involved in the Italian military intelligence, which in turn created a forged letter in which Hussein had yellow cake-processed uranium-from Niger to build nuclear weapons. President Bush then used this fake information to explain in his 2003 Condition of the union message“The British government has learned that Saddam Hussein has recently been looking for significant amounts of uranium from Africa”.

This is a largely hidden but important chapter in America's secret history, which deserves more attention before time continues to grow the facts. A slightly edited extract The Italian letter follows here:

In October 2002, Carlo Rosella, editor of the influential panorama of the Italian news magazine, brought as a columnist on board Michael Arthur Ledeen, a prominent, controversial American neoconservatives. Ledeen, who had long -standing CIA contacts, had been allegedly involved in Italian secret services for decades.

Panorama published a question and response interview with Ledeen in the magazine issue on October 3, 2002. The occasion was the publication of Ledeen's book “The War against the Terror Master”. In the interview … Ledeen repeated the administration of Pablum about Iraq and the 'axis of evil', which was first explained by Bush in his speech by the state of the Union of January 29, 2002. Leadenen said that US intervention in Iraq was necessary, but only as part of a “War of Liberation” in order to “free the Iranian, Iraqi, Syrian and Saudi population of the tyrants that they rule.

Ledeen supported the US intervention in Iraq and elsewhere. He said: “This intervention is necessary. But my opinion is that it would be more effective to start with Iran, because this is the simplest country that is to free. There would not even be a need for military intervention: our best weapon is the Iran itself, who hate the regime and that are willing to overthrow their tyrants.”

Panorama published at least eighteen comments from Ledeen in 2002 and 2003. His columns also regularly appeared in the conservative national review in the United States.

Ledeen was also Fellow at the Neokonservative American Enterprise Institute, he was an employee of James Woolsey, the former CIA director, as well as other veterans with high octane defense and intelligence agency that supported and encouraged the drive of the Bush government in Iraq. Twenty years earlier, Ledeen had worked with the Iran-Contra team, which set up his “Off The Shelf” policy to support Nicaragua's right rebels while participating in secret negotiations with Iran.

Due to its historical relationships with Italy's power structure and the Italian secret services, Ledeen was later mentioned by many conspiracy pfans as someone who may have had the development of the Italian letter from counterfeits to intelligence. Ledeen denied any participation, and no evidence was revealed, which interprets something else. “I was the goal of lies,” he said. “If you feel obliged to repeat these lies, you will sit down in the same category,” he added with obvious outrage.

Rumors about the participation of Ledeen in the Niger -Uran Falsifications were divided in August 2003 by disclosure that with the help of sismi the disclosure [Italian military intelligence] He had arranged a silent meeting with Pentagon officials, alleged Iranian secret service agents and a well-known Iranian producer, tangible Ghorbanifar.

Despite his dark past, Ledeen continued to keep high -ranking contacts in the White House, including the President's highest political advisor. David Kay, who headed the CIA staged WMD sowing team after the invasion, the Iraq Survey Group, stated that further contact from Ledeen was Vice President Cheney. At a point during the unsuccessful search for Saddam's weapons, Kay received a cable from the CIA in which he said that Cheney sent someone to Switzerland to meet with Ghorbanifar. The Iranian fraudster of Never-Say-Stie-Stie-Frauder had a source that would provide intelligence in Iraq atom weapons only $ 2 million. Kay returned to the CIA and said that he would not meet with the “known Fabricator Peddler”, unless this would be dependent. The orders never came. Kay “then discovered the latest Ghorbanifar -Stunt Michael Ledeen.”

“Everyone tells me that Michael Ledeen is not a stupid person,” said Bill Murray, former CIA station boss in Paris, where Ghorbanifar lives. “Then why does he stay in this (fronting for ghorbanifar)?”

The false secret services proved to be decisive for the creation of a case for the US invasion in Iraq. By the end, however, Ledeen played every role in the Italian machinations.

Ledeen co -authorized a book in 2016. The field of fighting: How we can win the global war against radical Islam and its allies, with retired General Michael T. Flynn a short and controversial term as a national security advisor in President Donald Trump's first term. In this book he and Flynn said that Iran should not have been the most important military goal to stop the threat from international terrorism. Flynn was convicted of charges by the FBI, but was later pardoned by Trump.
