Stillman College mourns the loss of a student, 2 alumni after a fatal crash

Tuscaloosa, ala. (Wbrc) – The Stillman College mourns the loss of a current student and two alumni after they were involved in a fatal accident on Friday, May 23.

The college says that the current student Sieas Elliot and Alumni Destiny Gardner and Varick Lawrence unfortunately died on Friday evening in a vehicle accident in the U -Bahn region Atlanta.

“This is a terrible tragedy for everyone in our Stillman family. The spirit of each of these proud breastfeeding maniters will live with all the lives that were greeted by their warm smile and the welcome personality. The entire community of Stillman College mourns the loss of this heartbreaking loss. -President.

Elliot, member of Omega PSI Phi Fraternity, Inc. and came from Stockbridge, Georgia, recently completed his baseball career in Stillman this May and planned to return to college for the school year 2025-2026, to graduate and to serve as a student-assisted base ball coach.

Gardner from Montgomery was a 74th Miss Stillman in 2021-2022, was a regional representative of the UNCF National Pre-Alumni Council and proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. says Stillman. In 2022 she was a graduate of College with a degree in criminal judiciary and worked as a youth officer in the DEKALB Regional Youth Detung Center in Dekalb County, Georgia.

Lawrence played baseball in Stillman from 2021 to 2023 before completing college in 2023. A member of the Omega Psi Phi Brotherhood and Lithonia, Georgia, worked as a baseball coach in the Metro region Atlanta.

According to Stillman, Gardner and Lawrence shared a little son together and both were deeply busy with college.

Jean Wilson, the director of the alumni matters for Stillman, said that Gardner and Lawrence embodied the spirit of college.

“Varick and Destiny embodied the spirit of Stillman College – determined, compassionate and always sought to excellence. As alumni, she continued to raised others and gave examples of leadership qualities in her communities. Their loss is deeply noticeable in the alumni family.”

Stillman Director of Athletics Terrance Whittle says that the legacy of Elliot, Gardner and Lawrence will live on with Stillman through the relationships they have built up.
