Despite the recent fatal shootings, he sees double -digit crime waste in this suburb in Portland

The violent crime in one of the suburbs in Portland has recently made headlines, but the police data show a crime.

According to City of Gresham Public Dashboard, crime has dropped by 13% between May 2024 and May 2025, although it rose by 4% last month.

The city, which comprises about 23 square miles, has an average of around 7,500 crimes per year since 2021.

A diagram from the dashboard shows a decline of 6,500 crimes in 2024. The dashboard also shows quarters with higher crime activities, especially in central city and Rockwood, where a 5-year-old girl and her father were barely injured when stray balls smashed their back sliding door in the veranda.

The Gresham police arrested a 21-year-old in connection with the shootout.

At the beginning of May, a drive-by shootout led to death and arrest of three teenagers.

At another tragic event, a teenager, Liam Spahnle-Bailey, was killed by a stray ball while slept in the living room of his family. Liam would have been 14 this week.

“I can't sleep in the same room. Sometimes I have to sleep on the couch because it is just shit that he is gone. He was always there and likes 13 years and 11 months in which he shared the room with him, it is really strange that he was gone.” Liams brother, Gordon Mott-Bailey, told Katu last Monday.

The Gresham police are actively looking for three suspects, which are believed to be armed and dangerous.

The suspects are identified as 20-year-old Anthony C. Hunter Jr.described as 5'9 “big and weighs £ 150; Xavier HirschAlso 20, described as 6'1 “large and weighs £ 140 and 16-year-old Terrell Coydescribed as 5,9 “big and weighs 165 pounds.
