The health authorities said Karnataka had reported 38 fresh Covid 19 cases, 32 of whom are Bengaluru alone. Despite the increase, officials claim that there is no reason for the alarm.

In conversation with reporters earlier a day, the health minister of Karnataka, Dinesh Gundu Rao, asked the residents to stay calm and continue their regular routines. “When people see headlines that indicate a revival of the covid, they tend to panic. I want to assure everyone that the situation is under control,” he said.

Rao appealed to the media to report the increase in cases responsible and not too sensational. “Covid-19 is not new. It became a pandemic five years ago, and now we are prepared to deal with it. There is no need to exaggerate its severity,” he added.

The minister found that the government is on a high alert and carried out precautionary measures to monitor the situation. With regard to the strong increase in cases in neighboring Kerala, Rao attributed to increasing test efforts and said that Karnataka is pursuing advice to the center, which at that time does not recommend any special restrictions.

“There are no curbs. People are free, as always, to travel their lives,” said Rao.
