San Diego (AP) – A private plane that approached an airport crashed in a quarter in San Diego and killed the six people on board, including the groundbreaking alternative music manager Dave Shapiro.

The crash anxious the Heavy Metal and Hard Rock scene, which emerged from the punk movement. The music agency, the Shapiro with Councing, Sound Talent Group, represented groups such as Pierce the Veil, Parkway Drive and Sum 41 and also ventured into more pop -acts like Vanessa Carlton.

It could take a year to clarify exactly what happened to the plane, but the investigators know that there were thick fog, problems with the runway lights and broken weather alarm system, according to the National Transportation Safety Board.

The pilot and passengers died, but nobody on the floor was killed or seriously injured.

The dead also included a photographer and two young women who just started in the music industry.

Here is what you should know about the victims and the crash:

Dave Shapiro

The 42 -year -old Shapiro started music in a band that he founded in the high school with friends, Count With Stars.

But it was the connections he made that made him successful, more than the music he played.

Shapiro helped bring the underground alternative scene of $ 10 per show to the mainstream. He was also enormous in creating a community, said Mike Shea, founder of the Alternative Press Magazine.

“In this music industry there are simply too many people who tear down people and use people,” said Shea. “Dave wasn't like that.”

Shapiro was performed as the owner of the aircraft and had a pilot license. Officials did not say who flew.

Kendall Fortner and Emma Huke

The 24 -year -old Fortner and the 25 -year -old Huke, as a booking employee as a booking employee, joined the BIOS published by Sound Talent Group, which confirmed that both women were on the plane.

Fortner was already “enthusiastic about music” thanks to her father, who brought her to concerts, and as a teenager showed interest in watching it as a career.

Huke also knew at a young age that she wanted to work in the industry and she worked hard to save money for concerts and festivals.

“There was nothing that Emma loved more than live music,” said the agency.

Both Fortner and Huke were good in their jobs, including the planning of tours, said the agency.

Daniel Williams

Williams was a former drummer for The Devil Wears Prada, a popular Ohio Metalcore band that was celebrated for their ability to marry melodic punk rock with metallic rounds.

When Williams “was in the band, they broke out,” said Shea.

Thomas Gutches, who manages rock bands and artists, remembered Williams' ability to captivate the audience with his drums.

“Daniel made a show out of his playing style,” he said.

Williams' band, whose publications reached the top 10 of the Billboard 200, was a customer of the sound talent group.

Celina Marie Rose Kenyon

Kenyon, 36, was another passenger, according to the forensic doctor in San Diego. A spokeswoman for the Sound Talent Group said she was not an employee.

Bryan Charles Feldman, Kenyon's father, said in an explanation of AP that she was respected in her career as a professional photographer and was deeply loved by friends and family, including her daughter and partner.

Kenyon was on the go to take a few long -time friends, said Feldman and went on a private flight rather than fly advertising so that she could come home in time to bring her daughter to school.

“The world has lost a nice light light,” he said.

Dominic Christopher Damian

The 41-year-old Damian was also killed, announced the forensic doctor's office on Saturday.

A martial arts school in San Diego, the training center, said about Instagram that Damian had trained there. The fitness studio organizes an open session in its memory on Monday.

The crash

The plane drove to San Diego in Kansas from New Jersey in Kansas. Eight people on the floor were injured, no serious.

The Cessna 550 quote crashed after he had made power lines, said Baker.

The pilot confirmed to a air traffic controller that the weather was not ideal and discussed how an audio recording by LiveAtc.net was published online.

Airport problems

The Federal Aviation Administration recorded an official announcement that the runway lights of the airport were triggered. The pilot did not discuss this with the controller, but said he knew that his weather warning system did not work.

“Sounds not great, but we'll try it,” he told the controller.

The fog was so thick in the time of the crash that “they could hardly see them in front of them,” said Dan Eddy, deputy head of the San Diego fire brigade.

A challenging year for aviation

In January, the United States had its fatal plane crash in more than 23 years when a passenger jet and a helicopter from the army collided in Washington and killed all 67 people on board the two aircraft.

Last month, a sightseeing helicopter broke apart and fell into the Hudson River between New York City and New Jersey and killed six people.

At the beginning of February, a small commuter plane crashed in Westalaska and killed all 10 people on board.

And in Philadelphia, a medical transport aircraft fell into a neighborhood shortly after the start at the end of January, with the six people being killed on board and two more on site.
