Scottie Scheffler, winner of the PGA championship, was the difficult favorite that won the Charles Schwab Challenge just a week after winning the major at Quail Hollow, but he is not particularly close to the top of the ranking in the campaign on Friday. He is five shots back from the leader (although we saw him climbing back from larger deficits).

Instead, it is a new face on the overall ranking after Thursday. The American John Pak is after a round 7-Unter-Par, three strokes in front of the field. This is not an insurmountable lead, but it is a phenomenal performance for someone with just a top 25 finish in his career.

According to Pak, it is an overcrowded field with nine players connected to 4-unders, including big names such as JT Poston, JJ Spaun and Ryo Hisatsune. Can one of them make a comeback and put PAK pressure before cut?

Charles Schwab Challenge Updates

Matti Schmid voted Ben Griffin in the first two rounds of Charles Schwab Challenge 2025. Both players shot in round 1 66 and followed it on Friday with 63 in round 2. The couple divided the lead with 11 under 36 holes. Schmid, a two-time European amateur winner, played Bogy-Free Golf on Friday and scored seven birdies.

It is only Ben Griffin who took advantage of the chances in the second round of Charles Schwab Challenge in 2025. From 4:50 p.m. Eastern, Matti Schmid is 6 to 14 holes on day and in second place at 10 under the tournament, a shot behind Griffin. Rickie Fowler shot a 6-below 64 player on Friday and introduced six birdies to the first nine to reach 6 under 64 for the tournament and a draw together with JJ Spaun, Akshay Bhatia and Tommy Fleetwood.

Ben Griffin got in a great position to challenge his second PGA tour victory of 2025. The 29-year-old scored three birdies on the first nine and another five birdies on the back nine to shoot a 7-voter 63 in the second round of Charles Schwab Challenge. He is 11 for the championship with 36 holes and the leader with three blows.

The best shot of the early parts of the second round of Charles Schwab Challenge On Friday was produced by Tom Kim. His third shot on the 11th Par-5 found the bacher's bottom. However, he currently flirts with the cut line, a shot over 2 under 14 holes.
