Follow the reporting on Thunder against Timberwolves by the Oklahoman in game 3 of the Western Conference Final in the NBA playoffs 2025.

While NBA MVP Shai Gilgeous-Aalexander led the OKC-Donner on the pitch, a seven-member owner has been leading the team behind the scenes for decades.

The Oklahoma City Thunder has been part of the Professional Basketball Club, LLC since 2006, when the group bought the Seattle Supersonics for 350 million US dollars.

Now, almost 20 years since this purchase of several million dollars, the Thunder have brought the city to newer heights and his chairman has pointed out that this was hope from the start.

Who owns the OKC Donner?

The Professional Basketball Club, LLC has the Oklahoma City Thunder. The group bought the Seattle Supersonics in July 2006, which was a controversial step at that time.

The Thunder owners' group consists of seven business people in Oklahoma, including Clay Bennett as chairman, George B. Kaiser, G. Jeffery Records, William M. Cameron, Robert E. Howard II, Jay Scaramucci and Everett R. Dobson.

Before he tried to buy Supersonics, the group first tried to buy the New Orleans Hornets after their short stay in Oklahoma City after the hurricane Katrina.

The attempt to buy was finally flat, but the then Hornets owner George Shinn gave a glowing review of how OKC organized his team.

“I told the league, 'look, people. These boys [PBC] are the real deal. You are good people. You want to do what is right and I am convinced that you will be happy to have you as a NBA partner, ”said Shinn in October 2006.

Ultimately, the review of how PBC received the offer in July 2006, officially became the owner and, according to Bennett von Bennett von Bennett, was described as the “prototypical owner group” by NBA commissioner David Stern.

Participation of the Thunder property in the new NBA -Arena from OKC

The owner of the owner undertook to contribute 50 million US dollars for a new NBA arena for the OKC Thunder -Basketball team, the Oklahoman reported in September 2023.

“The thunder has been honored for 15 years to lead the transformation of Oklahoma City and to improve the enormous pride that our citizens have in their community. We now have the opportunity to build on this advances, to promote our status as a real city with a large league, to further expand our economy and to secure the long -term future of the Thunder,” said Bennett beforehand.

The contribution of 50 million US dollars will cover about 5.5% of the costs for the construction of the arena, which is expected to cost more than 900 million US dollars. The new arena will sit over the current Paycom Center on the other side of the street.

Since Bennett, Bennett said that the arena is only one of many exciting changes that the thunder promotes throughout the city.

“Oklahoma City is located in the middle of an exciting transformation and develops in a way that we have never seen before. The view of our new arena signals even greater milestones that continue for our city and our state and continue to be successful and performance for our city and our state in October,” said Bennett.
