Stuttgart's Sterner: ankle injury 'not important' after the cup victory

VfB Stuttgart middle field player Angelo Stiller is not worried about his ankle injury after the German cup victory and does not yet think of the Nations League with Germany.

“Not important,” he said when reporters asked for his ankle after winning two templates on Saturday in the 4-2 victory against Arminia Bielefeld against the third division.

Stiller was doubtful for the game after suffering a small band injury in the Bundesliga game against Augsburg on May 11th.

But he was fit enough to be in the starting line -up against Bielefeld.

“We knew that he would play well if he could play,” said coach Sebastian Hoeness.

However, the midfielder admitted that things felt a bit difficult after some time.

“The first half was good, it was clear that I wanted to play. A cup final is always something special,” said the player.

“From the 60th minute, as soon as it became more physically demanding, I noticed it. I wanted to solve myself, but that was no longer possible. But it doesn't matter that we won,” he added.

Stiller was included in the squad of coach Julian Nagelsmann on June 4th to 8th for the Nations League Final Four on home, in which Germany is exposed to Portugal in the semi -finals.

It is unclear whether he can play, but this is not a concern for him at the moment.

“I don't know at the moment. I'm not thinking about it at the moment. I want to celebrate and that's enough,” he said.

When asked whether he had a drink preference, I still said: “I think I would rather not reveal that,” but then said that the German Digentif Jägermeister is his first choice.

“Now the party will start,” he said before going on the bus to join his teammates at the celebrations after the game.
