San Diego aircraft crash kills six, injured eight, destroys houses

Six people on board a small private aircraft died on Thursday when they plunged into a residential area in San Diego and had a house destroyed, and several houses and cars on fire, the US authorities confirmed on Friday.

Eight people who were on site were taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation and injuries that were not life -threatening, said a police officer.

“It was a fairly terrible scene,” said San Diego chief of police, Scott Wahl, to reporters at a press conference on Thursday.

The co-founder of Music Agency, Dave Shapiro's sound talent group, and two employees were among those killed on board, confirmed the agency in a statement.

“We are destroyed by the loss of our co -founder, colleagues and friends. Our hearts go to their families and to everyone who is affected by today's tragedy,” said the agency.

The Sound Talent Group represented artists worldwide, including the American singer-songwriter Vanessa Carlton, the Canadian rock band Sum 41, and the American pop band Hanson, known for the hit “MMMBop”.

Devil also wears Prada drummer on board

The former drummer of the metal band The Devil Wears Prada, Daniel Williams, was also on board and used to post photos of himself and Shapiro on the flight that day. His band was represented by Shapiros agency.

“No words. We owe everything to you. I love you forever,” wrote the band on their Instagram page.

It is believed that the plane, which held by Teterboro, New Jersey, tried to operate in foggy weather, which led to a reduced visibility.

In addition to the FAA, the National Transportation Safety Board will begin an examination of the crash.
