“We achieved some great success in the past quarter, obviously with some significant declines, but also in some areas that increased crime, as described in the report,” said Pelley.

“Our current strategies that get involved in the break and go into companies have a significant decrease of 51 percent – this is associated with proactive targeting of criminals.”

Pelley said the residences were slightly taken with. In the first quarter of 2025 there were 46 burglaries, from 36 in 2024 and 31 in 2023.

The vehicle thefts decreased, with 54 being recorded this year, compared to 98 in the first part of 2024. Thefts of motor vehicles have also decreased, with 121 instances in 2025 being reported compared to 168 in 2024.

Overall, the crime of property has dropped by 11 percent compared to the first quarter of 2024 and fell from 815 to 725 crimes.

Pelley said the department continued to focus on the people responsible for several crimes at high risk.

Overall, the criminal offenses of the Criminal Code attributed 3 percent in 2025 in the first quarter, which resulted from just more than 2,900 in 2024 to 2,825 in 2025.

Rating Bill Sarai noticed some in the business world that there is a lot of shoplifting that the police are not reporting.

“It is basically that you have told your employees, do not get involved, don't put your security in danger. Just let her go in what you want – and that is often increased,” said Sarai.

According to RCMP statistics, shoplifting rose slightly in the first quarter of 2025. 368 crimes were reported, seven more than 2024.

Pelley agreed that there are a number of crimes that are not reported.

He said RCMP promotes reporting on such thefts, and the department is involved in projects that concentrate on shop lovers in certain regions and corridors.

“We work with our crime prevention department with aspects of how you can make your business safer. We do not encourage individuals to soften themselves with people who want to work and go,” said Pelley.

“We encourage you to be registered because some people do this in several companies – and we will continue to concentrate on it.”

Pelley said the police worked with the bias and the companies and added that reporting instances of the shop theft will help replacement, since an analytical approach is necessary for this problem.
