Hogs Top Rebels to force game 3

play

Fayetteville -Payton Burnham was so sick on Friday that she could not take part in the first game of the NCAA tournament -Super -Super series between Arkansas Softball and Ole Miss.

About 30 hours later Burnham took off her illness and became a headache for the rebels.

The razibacks with fourth seeds dropped Ole Miss 4-0 on Saturday evening and forced a do-or-thas game 3 on Sunday. Burnham equipped seven batteries and only equipped three goals with a walk in a complete game from the games.

“This is who (Burnham) is,” said the head coach of Arkansas, Courtney Deifel. “She is a competitor. She wants the ball. She wants the moment.”

Arkansas (44-13) jumped into the top of the first with 2-0 in the lead without having a ball out of the infield. Ole Miss Start -Pitcher Brianna Lopez went out of the bases, and the razibacks used it. Kailey Wyckoff had an RBI floor out and Ella McDowell achieved another with an infield single on the right.

“I always love to be the visitor because we do that.

Thanks to a two-out rally, the pigs added insurance in the fifth insurance. Ellis ended a 0 for 13 drought with a single one, and Courtney Day brought two runners with a double into the gap in the left center. With this, Wyckoff set up the stage, which met a large one that was played wrong by Ole Miss Second Baseman Mackenzie Pickens for two undeserved runs and a 4-0 lead.

The offensive support was more than enough for Burnham, who painted both sides of the plate with their fast ball. She particularly frustrated the Ole Miss Hitter inside and seemed better in the course of the game. Six of their seven rashes came in the last four innings, and Ole Miss (41-18) did not get a runner on the base after the end of third place.

“I just turned it and then fed the atmosphere,” said Burnham. “I mean, it was electrical all day.”

Now the razibacks and rebels are both a victory outside of their first trip to the Women's College World Series. The story will be for the Sec -Rival on Sunday.
