Pedestrians hit near the Suz Lounge; Found driver nearby

A man from Hephzibah was dead in Augusta after a pedestrian accident in the early Sunday morning, and the suspect and the vehicle were found half a mile removed, the authorities said.

According to Mark Bowen, the forensic doctor of Richmond County, 23-year-old Xavion Wimberly was fatally hit by a vehicle to the south, while he crossed the 3200 block of the Deans Bridge Road. Wimberly was declared dead at 4:12 a.m. An autopsy was planned.

The Sheriff's office in Richmond County reacted to the scene in front of the Suz Lounge at around 3 a.m., where Lt. James Kelly was already in progress. Shortly afterwards, the forensic doctor's office was contacted.

A suspect and a vehicle were about half a mile from the location of the incident. The sheriff's office has not published any further details and the investigation has not yet been completed.

The victim is already traded online as a “cool guy”, with prayers offered by the family. On his Facebook page, Wimberly's last post shared a message with the inscription: “I have so many things I want, but I have everything I need and I thank you for this gentleman.”
