Child suffocates to death in the closed school car in the Morocco Taounate

Rabat-a six-year-old boy died tragically after suffocating in a locked vehicle that transported him to school 83.9 kilometers from Fez in the Taounat province.

An explanation of the public prosecutor's office at the Court of Appeal in FEZ announced the news after information on social media reported on the death of a child captured in a car.

The public prosecutor said that the first findings by the judicial police indicate that the child was “probably suffocated in the vehicle, where the doors were closed to the driver … left the vehicle”.

The driver regularly transported the child to school, where he also worked.

The prosecutor ordered an autopsy of the victim's body to determine the exact cause of death.

The judicial investigation will continue to determine the exact circumstances of the case, presumably, including the driver's degree of fault, concluded the explanation.

In a report by the United Nations Inter-Agency Group for the estimate of child mortality (UN IGME) last year it stated that the probability of death in children between the ages of 5 and 14 has increased from 2 deaths per 1,000 to 6 deaths in 2022.
