Kathmandu: The government spokesman and minister of communication and information technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung, said that the Interior Minister Ramesh Lekhak does not have to withdraw in connection with the current Visa scandal.

After the CPN-UML secretariat on Sunday on Sunday, Gurung briefly explained to the media and explained that the arrest of a government official alone does not justify any claims for the minister's resignation.

“Let the investigation continue. Just because the common secretary Tirtharaj Bhattarai was arrested does not mean that the Interior Minister has to resign,” said Gurung.

Bhattarai, the former head of the immigration office at Tribhuvan International Airport, is examined by the Commission to investigate the abuse of authority (CIAA) because he allegedly collected up to RS. 5 million daily by illegal visa transactions. His explanation, in which it was claimed that part of the money was handed over to the secretariat of the Interior Minister, caused a political storm.

While opposition parties, including the Maoist Center, are calling for resignation, UML – part of the ruling coalition – has occurred to defend it.
