On arrival, the MPs found a victim with a gunshot wound on the street and their vehicle, which is about 100 meters north of them. Brayden Raul Gomez, 17, was later located in the Dorothy Avenue and identified as a suspect. The authorities believe that the victim drove the young people from Bay County to his sought -after location, said BCSO.

After the discovery of the victim and his vehicle, the MPs were accompanied by BCSO criminal investigations when the crime scene unit processed the scene and discovered blood and ball holes in the car.

The Wildwood road remained closed overnight during processing, but has been open again since then.

A witness claimed that the suspect “shot when he fled out of the scene”, and according to BCSO's press release, he had reduced a fence before entering the Woodlawn neighborhood.

Since then, Gomez has been charged with an open number of murder and taken to Bay County's prison.

The BCSO did not react immediately to the request of the people for further information on Sunday, May 25th.

A Facebook user who commented on the announcement of the BCSO detention claimed that they were familiar with the driver of the vehicle. “I knew the victim and yes, that is devastating,” they wrote.

The commentator of the social media added: “He was a good man and loved with his family and friends. Until we see her again in heaven. Rip prayers for his family.

Another Facebook user who claimed to be a Lyft driver in the region wrote that they too had completed “collection and taxes in this neighborhood” and felt “safe” with each of their drivers.

“Unfortunately, underage drivers are common and trips are often requested via accounts of people they know,” they wrote. “Lyft tells us that we can cancel a trip when a driver is under age and alone, but where does this child leave … The driver probably only tried to make money because of the holiday weekend.”

The shootout takes place over a month after a 15-year-old in North Carolina was arrested and accused in October 2024 that he had fatally shot a Lyft driver, ABC News reported.

Another 15-year-old boy was arrested and accused a year earlier in connection with the death of a Lyft driver in Washington, DC. According to Wusa 9, the teenager was sentenced to three years in prison.
