Nola tests a little more on Sunday, discusses the ankle injury – NBC Sports Philadelphia

West Sacramento, California-Aaron Nola on Friday on the first time in a week earlier on the 15-day injured list of right-wing sprain, and on Sunday he took a flat floor in the Sutter Health Park.

The Phillies had hoped to throw Nola a bullpen meeting in Sacramento, but remained pain in the ankle. You may still have decided against it after Zack Wheeler had complained about the feeling of the hill on Friday how cement on the field and in the Bullpen in the Minor-League Park temporarily calling home.

Nola hopes to throw his Bullpen meeting on Tuesday in the Citizens Bank Park, but it will depend on how he reacts to Sunday.

“I hope if we return to Philly. Hopefully it is fine this morning, hopefully on Tuesday,” he said two hours before the first place in the final of the Phillie's series against athletics from the tiny visiting club house.

“Today the throw is fine, do a few things in the field, mix, jog and see what it feels like. It gradually gets better. I was a bit sore yesterday because I did more the day before to be a little more and put more pressure on it.

Manager Rob Thomson said at the beginning of the week that Nola would not need a rehab task if he only missed a few starts. But if he misses more than two weeks, you want him to face him, even if it is in live practice.

“I hope it,” said Nola about avoiding a rehab task. “This is the best scenario. But to be honest, I have to see how it feels from the hill first. Since I am on the IL, I want to do it right and strong again. I want to be able to run, sprint without having a problem.”

Nola admitted that he thought he was closer to the return.

“Yes, sure,” he said. “I have already sprained my ankle and thought that maybe a few starts and it would be better and it wouldn't. It took a little longer than I thought.”

Taijuan Walker will start again at home this week at Nola's rotation area. The Phillies start Ranger Suarez, Zack Wheeler and Cristopher Sanchez against the Braves, then Walker, Jesus Luzardo and Suarez against the brewers.

The Phillies would soon like to get a healthy and effective Nola back, but they are in good shape in terms of it, even without him. The starting personnel had an ERA of 1.82 in the first eight games of the current winning streak of nine games and both Walker and Mick Abel set out well in the starts of the spot.

Last Sunday, Abel met nine over six goalless Innings in his MLB debut against the pirates, sent down the following day and made his first start in Triple A on Saturday. It was good. Abel allowed a well -deserved run over six innings with four walks and nine strikeouts. He has an ERA of 1.45 in his last five starts with the Ironial.

This was a great development for the Phillies and their selection in the first round 2020.

“It really helps because you know that you are (Andrew) painters and now have this other type who recently showed him on a fairly large stage,” said Thomson on Sunday.

“He goes back to Triple A and will often see that boys who go back have an adrenaline flipping button and they do not increase or stay concentrated, but he did it. It's a good sign.”
