Korea on a high alert, while tech leaks linked to China exist

(Yonhap)

South Korean industry increases the security measures, which, as Chinese companies, reports to an increase in the technology connected to China, especially for semiconductors, by offering their current payment triple.

The Chipmakers Samsung Electronics Co. and SK Hynix Inc. have strengthened protocols for both current and former employees. All employees must sign confidentiality agreements, and pensioners or those who prepare for leaving the company must agree to restrictions on employment. These measures reflect growing concerns because most leaks have occurred to Chinese companies during the transitions of the employee.

Samsung Electronics has implemented after the conclusion of agreements that prevent former employees from joining competitors in the same industry. The company also operates a multi -layered defense system by using its proprietary security platform Knox on its products and internal systems. The use of external generative artificial intelligence tools such as chatt is also prohibited.

SK Hynix has formed committed teams who are responsible for security planning, physical protection and information technology, as well as introduce systems that log over to all file transmissions and automatically delete files after a specified retention period. In order to further exacerbate control, the company uses a smart device self-monitoring system (SSM) to monitor and restrict the use of mobile phone camera on site.

A lack of employee awareness in relation to security protocols also arose as a problem. According to industry sources, some employees believe that they can record data from previous projects with USB drives or other means simply because they have contributed to work. A source of the semiconductor industry warned that even outdated legacy nodes such as the 20-nanometer process, which has been refined by years of attempt and error, could significantly accelerate China's development if they are leaked through.

The problem goes beyond the chip industry. Car manufacturer Hyundai Motor Co. and Kia Corp. have assigned special security officers to each team to prevent data leaks. These managing employees supervise the treatment of company laptops and other electronic devices, manage internal safety training and regularly inform employees about earlier leak cases and company guidelines. Employees who approach retirement also receive separate security discussions. Similarly, companies strengthen cyber security and training employees to prevent information violations in the shipbuilding industry.
