1 dead, several injured in the fire of Jersey City

A fire swept through a laundromat and apartment building in Jersey City overnight, killed one person and injured several others.

The fire broke out at the corner of the Summit Avenue and the Mercer Street around 3:30 a.m.

Two adults and two children were found passed out who suffered from burns and smoke breathing.

Despite the efforts of the firefighters to manage the HLW, one of the victims died. A child is brought to the Cooper Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston to treat serious burns.

Three firefighters were treated for burns and one treated for smoke inhalation.

The preliminary investigation suggests that the fire in the kitchen of a unit on the second floor began. The Hudson County Regional Arson Task Force and the fire department of Jersey City are working to determine the cause of the fire.

The Red Cross provides at least 18 people affected by the fire at least 18 people who have financial support.
