Boamah demands Jinapor to the parliament towards contradictory figures

Patrick Yaw Boamah is the MP from Okaikwei Central

Okaikwei Central, Patrick Yaw Boamah, has the Minister of Energy and Green Transition, Dr. John Abdulai Jinapor, asked to appear in front of the parliament in order to give answers and clarity with regard to the incident with the missing EKG containers.

According to the legislature, which represents the new Patriotic Party (NPP), there are several contradictory reports on the EKG container.

He argued that initial reports indicate that some containers had disappeared, new information indicates that the number previously reported has now been found at the Tema port.

The minister, he added, must address the problem in the interest of transparency and accountability and present a detailed report on the actual number of alleged lack of containers and those who have been restored.

“The minister said there is about 1,300 and something. Now GPA tells us that they have recovered about 2,600 containers. We have also heard of around 3,000 containers. Therefore we will ask the minister to come and the true position of what happened, what happened, what was done, whether it was recovered or relocated. Parliament.

In view of the developments and contradictory reports on the EKG container, Boamah criticized the tendency of some civil servants to play in the public gallery by making early announcements without adequate evidence or verified information.

He was concerned that such actions are often politically motivated to discredit opponents, only so that the truth later appeared and these civil servants forced their previous statements to withdraw or revise.

“If you are an official, do not quickly call a press conference because I saw that people want to slander their opponents, but it will be the end:” Oh, what I told the media early was not a real position. “At that time, they would have destroyed a person to the public,” he said.

He added: “So I ask that people or civil servants are not too fast to call news conferences and talk about topics.

A joint investigative committee has discovered 2,637 containers that were previously not taken into account, which were delivered to the Ghana (EKG) electricity company, which more than doubled the originally reported value of 1,300 containers.

In an interview with 3NEWS, as monitored by Ghanaweb Business on May 26, 2025, Richmond Rockson, the spokesman and communications manager of the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition, confirmed that the containers were at several terminals within the Tema port.

The discovery was carried out by a special committee, the representative of the National Security, the Ministry of Transport, Ghana Ports and Harbors Authority (GPA) and the customs department of the Ghana Revenue Authority.

As of April 30, 2025, the containers were found in the following locations:
