The hiker frightens the mountain Lion with harmonica (video)

When the Hiker Hawkins Jessica “Dixie” Hawkins hiked on the Continental Divide Trail (CDT) a few years ago, she pushed on the way and used an unconventional tool to frighten it: a high harmonica. Spoiler alarm – it worked!

Hawkins was back in New Mexico when she suddenly saw the young Puma on her way. She stopped and got up when the mountain lion looked at her curiously. The two stared at each other a bit, then Hawkins rummaged for something in their pack. Is it pepper spray? No, it's a harmonica.

“In this clip I threw the continental divide path through New Mexico, and while I was on the phone and on the phone, a young puma was on the way right in front of me,” explains Hawkins. “It appeared and I put on as quickly as possible and started to record. The sound that you listen to 00:42 is a harmonica that I had worn in my shoulder bag. I thought when I had made a noise that it had never heard before it would attack me from the attack. I think it worked?”
