Hundreds gather in guard to honor the 9-year-old in Pleasant Grove and be killed

Pleasant grove – Friends and neighbors held a vigil on Thursday evening to support the family of a 9-year-old boy who was hit and killed while driving.

Hundreds of people showed themselves to drive candles and went quietly along the Northfield Drive in Pleasant Grove to the house of the family of Dalton Gibbs.

Dalton died on Tuesday after he was hit by a truck when he crossed 2600 North in 900 west, not far from his house. The police said that the driver, a man in the 80s, initially left the scene, but found and asked later.

Todd Trane, the St. Bishop of the family of the family, told KSL TV Dalton's family “an output of love” from the neighborhood and the wider community.

“You are just so grateful for all the love and support you receive,” said Trane. “You can say that Dalton is missing and loved by many.”

Trane called the 9-year-old an “amazing little boy” who had a big smile and wherever he went.

“Everyone who knew him conjured up a smile in her life,” said Trane. “(He) was just happy all the time.”

Since Dalton's death, neighbors have set up the ligaments in the family's house. Before the vigil on Thursday, a group of “Follow the Flag” set up dozens of American flags along the street.

“This little guy will really be missing, and (we) only want the family that we are there for them as a community,” said Jordan Fairbanks, one of the volunteers who have put up flags. “There are people from all over the world – I know a lot of these people and they are out of the whole. We wanted them to know that we are there for them.”

The funeral service for Dalton Gibbs will take place next week.

A gofundme was set up to support the family.
