Person killed, interstate in Belmont Wrong-way crash closed

Belmont, NC (WBTV) – One person was killed in the wrong crash, the Interstate 85 in Gaston County Castle for several hours.

The Belmont police answered on Friday, May 2nd, at 1:23 a.m. to the Milk marker 25 of the Interstate 85 to the north, to have reported a crash shortly after receiving reports about a driver who went nearby.

When the officers came to the place of the crash, they found a Mercedes Sprinter Transit van and a Hyundai Elantra. The investigators found that the Hyundai was in the wrong direction at the time of the crash.

His driver was identified as an 23-year-old Jorge Narino from Charlotte. Narino was killed at the crime scene. The investigators could not immediately confirm why Narino drove in oncoming traffic.

According to the police, the driver of the transit car was taken to a hospital to treat minor injuries.

Officers said the lanes to the north had been closed for several hours, while the crews worked to clear the scene.
