Head on the head with TikK: Instagram starts a video editing app

Instagram has announced the start of edits -a new video editing app that makes it easier for the creators of content to produce short videos directly from their phones. In contrast to the integrated processing tools in the social network, this app acts as an independent application and offers extended processing functions, clean and modern interface and direct release to Instagram and Facebook as well as export to another platform without a watermark.

After an experimental time, the app was launched with a group of invited creators who tested early versions and gave feedback. Instagram notes that the tool continues to be developed based on user inputs. In contrast to other popular video editing apps such as Capcut or Inshot, the edits are still in the early stages, and not all the functions desired are currently available. Here you will find out how to use the new app step by step:

Download and register:

The app is available in iOS and Android app stores. After installation, users have to register with an existing Instagram account. At this point there is no support for only Facebook accounts or external registration options.

Record a video:

Due to changes, the video recording enables directly within the app – for up to 10 minutes. Users can be recorded in segments, pause and in their curriculum vitae, similar to Instagram roles, but with more precise control.

Project management:

Each video is saved as a “project” so that users can return later, reorganize clips, add new segments or remove parts.

Precision processing:

The timeline enables the processing of frame levels. Users can trim, merge, change the speed, apply filters, activate green screen effects and add transitions. The app also contains an automatic attachment function to improve video quality.

Performance tracking:

In contrast to most free apps, Edits offers real-time feedback on important metrics such as skip-rate-one important indicator for the viewer. This tool is intended to help creators understand which parts of your video do well and which improvements are required.

Split:

Videos can be shared directly from the app on Instagram or Facebook. Alternatively, users can export the file to their gallery – without a watermark – and publish them on another platform, including YouTube, TikTok or Telegram.

Instagram notes that there are already other functions in development, including:

Keyframes – precise selection of points for movement or changes in effects.

AI-based effects-to change the style of the video.

Internal Sharing Tool – for sending draft versions between the creators.

An extended library with music, fonts and animation-freedom of license fees.

Despite its potential, there are currently no functions such as several audiogliche, automatic synchronization with music or analysis of answers to external networks. Nevertheless, as a free app, it offers an intuitive solution for creating roles, stories or teasers and offers a smooth, professional, ad -free experience.
