The young missionary who was killed by car during the re -assignment in Charlotte, says Church, says Church

Charlotte, NC (WBTV)-A 18-year-old missionary was killed and killed by a car in North Charlotte on Thursday evening.

Elder Aleki Langi, who reported that Charlotte had a temporary new assignment, was identified as the teenager who died in the wreck.

The crash occurred on Thursday, May 1st, around 6 p.m. along the Beatties Ford Road in the Celia Avenue.

The police said that a pedestrian was killed in the crash that the church later confirmed was Langi. Officials from the church said that the driver of the car “lost control and traveled to the sidewalk,” struck Langi and another missionary.

Langi declared paramedics to be dead at the crime scene. The second missionary was taken to the hospital, treated and released.

“Elder Langi started his mission service in March 2025 and dates from the Magna 2nd station in the Salt Lake Utah West -Pfahle,” the church wrote in a statement. “He had a temporary assignment in the North Carolina Charlotte mission, while waiting for a visa to serve in the Jamaica Kingston mission.”

Medic found that five other patients, including the second missionary, were also injured in the crash. One of them was “seriously injured”, although it was not immediately clear how the status of this person is currently.

At the time of this writing, there is no word about arrests or charges in this case.
