1 killed after car lies in Stuttgart – DW – 05/02/2025

A car drove into a lot of people in the south -western city of Stuttgart, who killed one person and injured several others, the police said.

After a preliminary investigation, the Stuttgart police said that it was a tragic traffic accident.

What we know about those involved

Apart from the person who died of the consequences of their injuries by the incident, two other people were seriously injured and five other suffered minor injuries.

According to the police, the driver of the vehicle, a 42-year-old man, was not injured and arrested. A police spokesman said he was asked.

“There is currently no evidence of an attack or a deliberate action,” said the police on X.

The incident occurred in the Olgaeck area with the police that there was a large number of officials on site.

The vehicle involved in the incident, a luxury SUV from Mercedes G-Class, remained near a tram stop at the scene. According to the police spokesman, the service at the tram stop was suspended.

The police said on Friday evening that surgery continued and that there are currently severe traffic restrictions in the center of Stuttgart, the capital of Baden-Württemberg.

In the meantime, the Stuttgart Fire Brigade said that it reacted to a serious traffic accident with several injuries in the center of the city.

“The area is cordoned off and the injured are treated at the scene,” says X.

After Germany had experienced several fatal attacks on the car ramming in the past few months, including in the eastern city of Magdeburg and in the southern city of Munich.
