The boat operator in the Clearwater Ferry crash has passed and cooperate, says the police, says the police, the police say

No accusations were submitted after the death of a person and at least 10 more were injured when a boat fell against a Clearwater ferry late Sunday evening.

The police said that the boat operator, who had supposedly joined the ferry, passed a field soberness test and stayed at the scene of the accident for a few minutes before going to the nearby Bellair boat ramp. The driver's identity has not yet been published.

Police chief Eric Gandy described the chaotic rescue scene.

“Even before the first aiders arrived on site, we knew that we dealt with a big situation. Our 911 calls could hear what they described as terrible screaming in the background,” he said.

Gandy said it would be at the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission to determine whether the boat driver, who works with the police, is submitted.

The video shows a boat that moves at high speed before it hits the Clearwater ferry from behind near the Memorial Causeway Bridge.

Tony Tedesco, head of Clearwater Fire Rescue, described how the crews entered to save people.

“When our crews arrived for the first time, they found themselves in the water and also tried to save people from the water. In addition, they tried to find out who was strongest,” he said.

All injuries had been on the ferry. The other boat stayed on site for a few minutes before he left. The law enforcement agencies found it and the six people on board at the BelleAir boat ramp.

In a social media post, the US Coast Guard said that reports about the scene point out that all 45 people on the ferry and all six people were taken into account on the boat.

“All local hospitals were notified. Several trauma warnings were called up with helicopters, the two of the more serious injuries transported,” said the post office.

Videos on social media showed several first aiders who hurried to the scene with the flashing of lights. Several good Samaritans also helped ferry passengers to safety, officials said.

Sunday was the last day of the Sugar Sand Festival, a 17-day sand sculptural festival in Clearwater Beach.
