4 dead after the car in the program after the school in the program building near Springfield

Sangamon County (KMOV and 25News Now) -Four people died after a car has fallen into an after -school program building in Chatham, Illinois near Springfield.

According to the Chatham Police Department, the incident occurred on Monday at 3:20 p.m. in the Ynot After School Daycare on the 301 Breckenridge Road at around 3:20 p.m.

The police said the vehicle hit several people outside the building before walking through the building and left on the other side.

Three people met outside the building and a person who was hit in the building died. Several people were taken to the hospital with injuries, including a person who was flown from the scene.

The age of the victims was not published.

The driver of the vehicle was taken to the hospital for evaluation after the incident.

A reunification point was set up in the Chatham Baptist Church.

In the meantime, Governor JB Pritzker published the following explanation on his Facebook page about the tragedy:

“My administration monitors the crash in Chatham. If we continue to learn, please follow the guidance of all local authorities. Let us wind our arms around the community tonight while we get updates to the situation.”
