Ferryhawks achieved the opening victory for the opening day, the best start in the team history.

Staten Island, NY-Es does not give a place like at home, and the Staten Island Ferryhawks did this saying well when they followed a six-game road to start the season with a 4-2 win against the Hagerstown Flying Boxcars in the Siuh Community Park on Friday.

Her victory not only brings her to first place in her division Atlantic League, but the 6-1 start of the HAWKS is also the best record through seven games that the young franchise has achieved.

The excitement of the opening day was noticeable among the almost 1,500 fans present, and manager Mark Minicozzi said that his team was just as energized to play again on the island.

“We have a fantastic clubhouse. When they spend the first games on the street, the boys excitedly excitedly got out of here today,” said former San Francisco Giants Farmhand.

Ferryhawk's starting jug Morgan McSweeney stated the tone early by inflating the flight capacities into the top of the first bloodings and giving an early look at the command he would retain. In the lower half of the frame, RBI from DH Mark Contreras and Catcher Matthew Scheffler quickly set up the Hawks 2-0.

McSweeney continued to throw a jewel and get his first win of the season with a last line of 5.0 Innerings, Zero Earned Runs, six strike outs and only two walks.

“It was quite impressive. Such a setting up is a recipe for many victories,” said Minicozzi about the excursion of his starter and continued to notice that McSeeney still finds a converted helper in his first season on Staten Island.

“He ordered the zone and that is what they want from such a man. He gave us the chance to bring a tour early, and that's all you can ask,” continued Minicozzi.

McSweeney, who had spent time with the AAA partner of Baltimore Orioles last year, also agreed that he had “carried out many parking spaces” during his victory.

“I started against this team last week, so I had a decent game plan. (Catcher Matthew) Scheffler called a great game and the boys behind me played a great defense. It was a really good day and I hope that I can keep it up in the next few weeks,” said McSweeney.

The Ferryhawks gave their starter a few additional pillows in the bottom of the fourth, and extended 4-0 with RBIs from left field player Aaron Takacs and Shortstop Eddy Diaz before McSweeney left the game.

While the hits may have stopped afterwards, Minicozzi was still happy about the diversity of the various offensive employees when the Hawks scored nine goals, with all four RBI of four different players.

“We have a complete line -up. It is almost difficult to make a list every evening because we always stay on the bench that can beat, but it's great,” said Minicozzi.

The Flying Boxcars made things interesting after McSweeney was relieved, two solo homers in the seventh goal and loaded the bases with two outs in the ninth – but closer Robbie Baker kept his nerve to secure the final to earn the rescue.

“This is the fourth or fifth game that we won where it came to the winner, but that is proof of a good team and a good bullpen,” said Minicozzi about the bending of his aids.

“If you have these narrow games and have to make this last playing field, we made this field. Obviously we love clean inner sings, but at the beginning of the season, when you can get through and win the game, it is huge. It only creates confidence in the bullpen,” he continued.

With just one flaw in their record games in the season, the Ferryhawks continue a very encouraging upward trend after the start of 0: 7 in 2022, 1-5 (with a game) in 2023 and 4-3 in 2024.

When Minicozzi with what worked so well this year, he said that the Hawks employees focused on building a “very sporty team that can do a lot”.

“You will see a lot of people who can play several positions so that we can breathe for boys so that their legs are among them at the beginning of the season. It was nice and we have a group of people who played for each other, and although we have played many new faces this year, they played immediately and they won,” said Minicozzi, said by The New-Feel Hawks.

The Ferryhawks will try to build on their opening triumph and best start for a season when they are held again on Saturday in a Doublehead in a Doubleheader that is completed after the second game of a fireworks display.
