NYPD wants to repay massive overtime after Jeffrey Maddrey sex scandal

The NYPD tries to push back more than $ 200,000 to overtime that were paid to the female lieutenant, who claimed that the OT bar money had been used by the shell of the ex-boss of the Jeffrey Maddrey department to force them to carry out sexual actions.

Lt. Quathisha Epps, a 19-year-old Vet who retired in December after the post had uncovered the scandal, was the best paid policeman of the department last year.

“She was paid for the work that she didn't do,” said a police source. “She noticed that she owe this money.”

EPPS described the NYPD demand that it can pay back 231,890.75 US dollars because it blown the pipe to No. 2 of the department in the department.

“I'm not silent,” she said. “This is not just my struggle – it is the struggle of every woman who dared to comment and punished it. If the department – or someone – believes that they can happen what happened by attacking me, they have severely underestimated the power of truth.”

The demand was a result of a NYPD examination of overtime and included the direct supervisor of EPPS, the former deputy boss Paul Saraceno, who was released last month, shared sources. Saraceno was Maddrey's second commander and supposedly signed retrospectively at the overtime of EPPS, the sources said.

Epps' lawyer, Eric Sanders, said, the letter received from the NYPD EPPS did not provide any evidence that she did not work the hours in which she claimed to work.

NYPD top earner, ex-lieutenant Quathisha Epps, submitted an EEOC complaint from the federal government against Maddrey. NYPD

“The problem of overtime is a red herring that is distracted by the real legal and moral crisis within the NYPD,” said Sanders. “According to New York labor law, the employer's burden is not the employee.”

In November, Swiss Post showed that EPPS in the 2024 $ 403,515 in the amount of $ 204,453.48 over its basic salary of $ 164,477.

On December 20, Epps, an administrator in Maddrey's office, shared the mail that the boss paid her the dough to “force” her in his office in the NYPD headquarters.

Sanders, a former police officer, submitted a complaint for Equal Employment Opportunity against Maddrey the next day.

Maddrey returned the day when the postal story went online on December 21st. A week later, he held a press conference in Manhattan, where his lawyer reporters said that the relationship with EPPS was mutually acceptable. He also accused EPPS of complying with his client for the examination of her overtime. Maddrey asked no questions.

While the NYPD EPPs is pursuing, Maddrey is expected to pull down an annual pension worth around 259,000 US dollars. When Epps achieved its 20th anniversary this summer, it will receive a pension of less than half of the lieutenant -less than $ 50,000, police sources said. It will also miss the variable supplement of around $ 12,000 per year.

After the scandal, the police commissioner Jessica Table Department -wide changes, including the replacement of the head of the manager of the senior office for internal affairs and transfer of officials in the police quarters to other districts and departments.

Maddrey's house was searched on January 2 by agents of the US Ministry of Justice that opened an investigation after the news was broken through the Imbroglio. The district prosecutor's office in Manhattan also said that an investigation started, but said later that it dropped the case. The doj refused to comment on the status of its review.

A retired NYPD officer who worked with victims with sexual attacks said that the NYPD claim after repayment of a suspected victim was misguided -especially since her accused Maddrey was allowed to retire with a full pension.

“When she listens to her, she says she asked him to stop when he had sex with her in his office,” said the ex-office. “You claim criminal misconduct.”

The NYPD has not returned a request for comment.
