As a new parent, my Apple Watch will help me 12 options during the day

Kaitlyn Cimino / Android Authority

As a new parent, I found that my Apple Watch is the most helpful that I have (next to an espresso machine). It is as if a small, portable command center that is strapped onto my wrist and organizes me, connected and is hardly ahead of chaos. Below you will find the most common ways I use my smartwatch to manage my new roommate.

1. Noise app

The Apple Watch starts strongly with the Noise app and is surprisingly clung when an attempt is made to create a safe sleeping environment. As tempting as it may be to drown all household noises so that the baby can sleep, there are limits how loud a sound machine should be. I use the Rausch app to adjust my on a baby-safe volume (under 50 decibels during sleep) to protect these incredibly tiny eardrums. On the other hand, it is always demoralizing when you get a noise alarm because a newborn cries on your face.

2. Alarms and sleeping tracking

In a common bedroom with a occupied house house is a silent, only haptic alarm is the most important thing in my life. My apple guard alarm is the only way to make sure that I and only I have woken up when I stare time to prepare bottles, tucking coffee or just in silence in the dark. Sleeping is less about improvements and more about evidence. It is both validating and strangely satisfactory to pursue how little you sleep in this “magical” time. (Spoiler: It's not much.)

3. Organizational apps (memories, calendar, timer)

Babies have more planned events and tasks than a floor manager. From feeding to naps to vitamin D can to medical appointments, they are maintenance doctor, small tyrants, and I will take all the help I can remain organized. The Apple Watch brings details on one arm length, which does not mean that I will be on time, but at least I will know that I am running late.

4. Activity and fitness tracking

I will be the last person who urges every new parent to rethink his fitness goals directly from the goal, but there are definitely real advantages (both mental and physical) to stay active. Even if my regular fitness routine is a break, the activity rings of the watch give me a small thrust to keep me in motion, regardless of whether it is a refreshing stroller walk or 47 midnight trips in the hallway up and down to rock the baby to sleep.

5. Do not disturb and focus modes

As much as I appreciate grandma's enthusiasm for Facetime, newborns do not need to distract or call up notifications during a nap or feeding. Let me temporarily rule out the world if a mismid thing can cost me an entire hour of my life (and a considerable amount of my intellectual health). It is not perfect to protect fragile, hard -fought moments of peace.

6. Apps from third -party providers

One of the greatest strengths of the Apple Watch is the unsurpassed app support for third-party providers. There is a wild world with baby -oriented apps, from baby boxes to feeding protocols, and if they are synchronized with my watch, I can enter or check data without fumbling for my phone. I am also an enthusiastic user of the Remote app for controlling the television when the real distances between the couch pillows dive.

7. Find my friends

Not like a stalker, but it is calming to know where your partner is, especially if he carries out a solo run to the goal (ie, let's be honest, a time warp). The Apple Watch makes it easy to recognize whether you are almost at home or are still in the gang K12 to search for diapers of size 1.

8. Find my iPhone/Control Center -Ping function

If I don't look for my partner, I would almost certainly look for my phone. Regardless of whether it is buried under washing, in the glider or somehow lost in my own pocket, the ping tool saves me from several daily existential crises.

9. Siri, messaging, calls and notifications

Newspaper celebrations communication is a player when my arms are full of babies (or baby equipment). Siri sets my timer. I only answer calls from my wrist. I also reject the notifications that I have to deactivate and rewrite the group chat that never ends and without having to pull out my phone (let's be honest, where is my phone?). In the meantime, the use of my watch means less screen time for the small one, which a retina display can see from a distance of 20 feet.

10. Apple Pay

Regardless of whether I accidentally left the house without my wallet or I just don't want to dig into the abyss of my diaper bag to find it, make contactless payment support (read: coffee runs) much more smoothly. The excursions can already feel like an Olympic sport with a baby in tow.

11. Cards

Cards from baby to sleep to sleep to the day with a setting change, Maps is my driving or dying companion for an endless carousel from strollers Treks. I use it to navigate new parts of the city, to find shaded parks and find the next take-out locations that I can meet on my way home.

12. Photo watch face

Apart from all sarcasm, I am a big fan of my new little roommate. I have about 7.4 million photos to use and the photo watch face is the perfect medium. The smiling (or dark) face on the wrist is a small, joyful memory of why sleep is overrated anyway.
