New York Yankees Scratch Clarke Schmidt before the planned start with a side injury

The right -handed Pitcher Clarke Schmidt from New York Yankees was scratched by his planned start against the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday according to the updated line -up of the team.

The left -hander Ryan Yarborough starts in Schmidt's place and competes against the team for which he played from 2018 to 2022. Yarborough has not started a big league game since 2023. After making all eight of his appearances out of the Bullpen out of the Bullpen this season, he has recently made his last time of 3.2 innings.

Schmidt told Chris Kirscher from The Athletic and others that he dealt with pain in the left. However, the injury is slightly and he expects to take the hill against the San Diego Padres on Tuesday.

A right-wing Lat strain limited Schmidt at 16, starts in 2024, but he still managed to go 5-5 with an ERA of 2.85, 1.184 whip and 2.0 war. In the post -season, however, he went over three starts with an ERA of 5.25 and 1,500 whips.

The 29-year-old's fights continued in 2025, starting with the back and shoulder injuries that he had suffered in spring training. Ultimately, he opened the regular season on the injured list with the right -wing rotator die inflammation.

In his three large league since his return with an ERA of 5.52, 1.432 whip and -0.2 war 0: 1.

With Yarborough on the hill on Saturday, the Yankees are better off and not only because of the poor production of Schmidt lately. The rays are one of the least productive teams in MLB against the left, which was obvious when Max Fried closed them again on Friday.

The first place between New York and Tampa Bay is planned for 1:05 p.m.
