NBA Great makes courageous claim that Larry Bird plays in today's game

Many tend to fight yesterday's players in today's NBA.

You say today's players are bigger, faster, stronger.

Nevertheless, an NBA major from the past believe that a player from his time would still be dominant. In 2023, former Detroit Piston's Guard Isiah Thomas, Hall of Fam could dominate today's game.

“If Larry Bird would play today, he would still be the Liga's MVP,” said Thomas in a podcast. “And his team would still win championships.

This says a lot when you consider that Bird was one of Thomas's greatest rivals in the 1980s. They met several times in the playoffs before Thomas' Piston finally broke through in 1988.

Thomas' argument for his opinion is the current Denver Nuggets superstar Nikola Jokic, who is one of the most dominant players in the game. He led the nuggets to the title in 2023 and has already been an MVP three times.

“Well, why I say that,” said Thomas. “Because we have just seen the joker who is very similar to Larry Bird, we take his team in Denver Nuggets and win the championship. So when I look at these two players and when I say that they are similar, Bird would probably win two or three championships in this era.”
