4 children killed when the driver falls down into the post -school program

According to the Illinois State Police, four people were killed on Monday afternoon after a car crashed into a post -school camp in the Downstate Chatham.

After the school camp, a driver met three people outside of Ynot and killed a person after falling into the building. Some others were injured in the crash, which took place around 3:20 p.m., the authorities said.

The victims were between 4 and 18 years old. Some were brought to local hospitals, including one that was flown by the Life Flight helicopter.

The driver was not injured, but was taken to a hospital for evaluation, the police said.

“If you believe in the power of prayer, please take a moment to pray for the entire Chatham community,” the Chatham police wrote in a statement on Facebook on Monday evening. “A terrible tragedy occurred here that affected us all.”

The Illinois Governor JB Pritzker said in a statement that he was “horrified and deeply sad”, and he expanded the condolences to the families who were injured. He said state and local officials worked together on the investigation.

“Our community has lost a group of lighter and innocent young people who have their whole life in front of them. The parents said goodbye to their children this morning, without knowing that it would be the last time. My heart is difficult for these families and the unimaginable grief that they experience – something that no parent should ever endure.”
