When it comes to the best over-ear headphones that you can buy, our current list contains both the WH-1000XM4 and the WH-1000XM5 from Sony and it looks as if the Sony WH-1000XM6 couple has been unveiled too long.

According to the Walkman blog (via Notookcheck), the headphones of Sony WH-1000XM6 will be announced in the first or second week of May. However, it could be in mid -June until you can actually order them online or find them in shops.

The same source says that the price will be around 479 US dollars. As you will see from a reading of our Sony WH-1000XM5 review, the current headphones at 399 USD / £ 380 / AU $ 649 (although they are now cheaper), so let's see a significant price increase.

Taking into account the WH-1000xM5 headphones in May 2022, the follow-up couple made a long time. The model previously, the Sony WH-1000XM4, was unveiled in August 2020.

What we think we know so far

There is another information from this leak: the WH-1000xM6 headphones are apparently possible, in contrast to the WH-1000XM5, which we now have. It is a return to the design of previous models, including the WH-1000XM4 and the Sony WH-1000XM3.
