Fact check of the mayor of Portland, Keith Wilson, that crime has decreased compared to the previous year

Portland, Ore. (Katu) – Mayor Keith Wilson asked the residents during his speech in his city of the city on Friday that it was more common in the city center and claimed that the crime rates had dropped.

Mayor Wilson said that murders across the city were half of the year over the year.

According to the Portland police, Katu found that the assertion of the claim was true.

According to the California Partnership for safe communities, 36 murders were reported in 2019, which were more than twice as high in 2013 and 2016.

Murder reports that were moved with 57 people killed in 2020 fell together with a strong increase in population both in 2019 and in 2020.

In 2021, the police examined 88 murders who more than doubled in 2022, with 185 murders being reported.

Since then, however, these numbers have dropped, and the Portland police reported 69 people who were killed in 2024.

Mayor Wilson attributed the work of the police chief of Portland, Bob Day.

“We interrupted the cycles of violence that our community plagued. Murds are half of the year-over year. Thank you for the commitment of your employees [and] Their officers, ”said Wilson of the franklin high school.“ I guess their commitment every day. The focus is now unacceptable and should be unacceptable for everyone in this room. ”

Between January and March there were 11 reported cases compared to 27 in the same period of the previous year.

In addition to the decline in the murders, robberies and attacks were tended downwards. With increasing confidence in law enforcement, the police can expect a large number of reports in 2025.
