Fat Joe mourns his mother's death less than 3 months after his father's death

• Rapper Fat Joe announced the sad news on Instagram that his mother Marie died at the age of 77
• Marie's death takes place less than three months after Fat Joe's father, Ernesto, had died on February 12th at the age of 89
• In a moving tribute to his mother, the musician partially wrote: “You were my world, my heart, my everything. I will continue to make you proud.”

On Saturday, May 3, the 54-year-old rapper “Lean Back” announced in an Instagram post that his mother, Marie Del-Carmen Cartagena, died. According to the TMZ, she was 77 years old.

“This is a real one, rests in peace for the woman who brought me to this world,” the musician wrote in a long message and informed how close he was with his mother. “She didn't have much, but she gave us everything.”

“Anyone who knows my mother knows that she had a heart of gold. She refused to take the projects off for many years, even though I had money,” he continued. “She loved her community, she loved her people – Mrs. Ruby, the queen of the terrorist.”

Fat Joe (whose real name Joseph Antonio Cartagena is) said that his mother is “sooooooo proud of us” – which “everyone in the crew” means – including his friends and frequent employees, DJ Khaled, Remy Ma, Stylist Terrell Jones and more.

Marie's death takes place less than three months after Fat Joe's father Ernesto at the age of 89 in February. The couple was together 60 years before his death, said Fat Joe.

“I have to thank the father, my God, for having her in my life in my life for so long,” Fat Joe continued. “The truth is that she died in a broken heart. 60 years with a man and he died recently, my father wanted her with him.”

“To the Castro family, the Cartagena family, the Delgado family,” he continued, before he turned directly to his mother. “I love you and thank you for the expression of love. Mama until I see you again. You were my world, my heart, my everything. I will continue to make you proud 🙏🏽❤️🕊️”

The rapper “What's Luv” also shared a number of photos of his mother, including the recordings of her with her son, his friends and family as well as a photo of her as a young woman.

The three -person father previously announced that his father died on February 12th.

“Sad, the death of my father” Ernesto alias Cuba “Papi Te Quero Para Siempre”, he wrote at the time. “It was difficult that I was not looking for sympathy and only honored my father that he is a legend in my eyes.”

In addition to the tribute to his father, Fat Joe shared a carousel of photos of the couple and other family members.

In the first picture, Fat Joe could be seen how he wrapped his arms around his father from behind. The next snap showed the duo that stood against a blue car while a third photo was on the shoulder of his grandson Joey's shoulder. Fat Joe and his extended family showed other photos with his father and a snapshot of his wife Lorena Cartagena with Ernesto.

In January, the rapper celebrated his mother's birthday and wrote in another Instagram contribution that she was “the love of my life”.

“I pray to God every day and thank him for having you in my life,” he wrote next to a photo of himself that hugged Marie. “We had a rough, but we got ourselves and I will be by your side forever.”
