Video: Seagovill neighborhood shootout leaves you dead

A shootout in the middle of a Seagoville district on Sunday morning left a 19-year-old man dead.

The 51-year-old Larry Robertson is now charged with murder as a surveillance video that is shared by the police and preserved by FOX 4, shows that Robertson is driving a black Kia passenger car near the 19-year-old, which was seen in front of the camera with a red sweatshirt.

In the video, words can be exchanged and then shots exchanged.

The 19-year-old runs out when he is shot.

The Kia started, but according to a arrest order, the Seagovill police found the Kia and arrested Robertson, who shared his story with investigators.

According to the affidavit, Robertson lives in the neighborhood and told the police: “This guy came around my house, he had a pistol, he pointed to me …”

The Robertson family later told the police that two men were on surveillance material that laid around in their house.

What you say:

Seagoville's chief of police, Ray Calvertey, believes that the fatal shootout should never have happened.

“Bad things happen everywhere, but they know that this is not the way to solve it. Gun power never solves anything,” said Calvertey.

Local perspective:

The shootout rattled the family of Taneisha Ortega.

“My daughter lay on the bed and looked away and the ball came straight through the window and then screamed,” said Ortega.

Ortega says she watched and tried to help the 19-year-old before he died and described it as an urgent encounter.

“And I just tried to keep him awake, you know, tell him that you don't go to sleep, don't go to sleep, you know?” Said Ortega.

What we don't know:

While both Robertson and the 19-year-old shots exchanged in the affidavit, there is no who shot first.

Both seem to have shown a weapon around the same time, but according to the police records, the 19-year-old was not found a weapon.

It is unclear whether someone else was out of sight during the shootout.

The 19-year-old was not publicly identified and his family also lives in the neighborhood, but refused to comment.
