More than 1,500 companies that use the app for criminal police

An app reporting was used by more than 1,500 companies throughout Thames Valley.

The Disc -app started a year ago to combat retail crime and has registered 1,758 incidents since then.

It was introduced free of charge as part of the crime strategy of the Thame Valley Police and Crime Commissioner.

The app, which is financed by the police and criminal officers, enables companies to exchange information about criminal activities, to submit reports on incidents and to look at galleries of criminals.

It serves as an alternative to the number 101 due to non-emergency crimes.

The app is available in Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Milton Keynes and can be used for retail, night economy or anti-social behavior schemes.

The information shared in the app supports the Thames Valley police in enforcing measures against criminals and have contributed to an increase in the shoplifting of convictions.

Matthew Barber, police and criminal officer from Thames Valley, said: “This app was an integral part of my strategy for retail to facilitate the shoplifting of the reporting and the exchange of information for retailers, and was a great success.

“I encourage companies to join and take full advantage of the app so that more criminals can be brought to court and the retail staff can be protected.

“Maximizing the participation of the members is of essential importance for successful systems to reduce crime.”
