Operation not in vain to reduce crime in the Hot Spots of Las Cruces

With several local and federal law enforcement agencies, the Las Cruces police authority will meet a month-long project to reduce crime to memory of fallen Las Cruces Police officers Jonah Hernandez during the entire operation. The initiative is scheduled to begin on April 28 and are expected to be completed in August in August, according to a press release from the city.

Hernandez was killed on duty on February 11, 2024 after he reacted to an overview call. Hernandez served for two years at the Las Cruces police department.

“Our first unsuccessful company was extremely successful and underlined the importance of cooperation between local, state and state law enforcement authorities,” said Jeremy Story, head of the LCPD. “This year we try to refine this cooperation, continue to pursue initiatives, make Las Crucs a safer city and the memory of Jonah in the city that he serves alive.”

The law enforcement officer focuses on the increasing uniform presence in hotspots for violent crime in the whole city with a focus on frequent criminals and those that were identified in the community as drivers of violent crime, a press release from the city of Las Cruces.

Operation, not for nothing, will use the resources of the law enforcement agencies by the Las Cruces police authority, the New Mexico State Police, the Sheriff office of the District of Doña Ana, the public prosecutor, the US law firm and several federal authorities, according to the city.

The initial operation, which was not for nothing from August 5 to November 8, 2024, 127 arrests, 114 arrests, 89 criminal quotes and more than 1,200 traffic quotes.
