Public outrage

In response to the video, PETA India submitted an official complaint against the handler. The police also assured the public that appropriate legal steps would be taken against the accused. In a statement, the Kolkata police wrote: “Bhowanipore PS has registered the FIR via the incident. Appropriate legal steps are taken against the person involved. The horse is under medical care with regular veterinary examinations.

PETA calls for the immediate itractation

However, PETA India has pushed for further measures that are undertaken. In a follow-up message, the organization called for immediate confiscation of the horse for a thorough examination and rehabilitation of veterinarians. “The horse urgently needs hospital stay and rehabilitation and confiscation of negligent and abusive owners,” said Peta.
