Karachi's poisonous tea scandal: a health crisis in Pakistan

A shocking Dawn News report reveals a public health crisis in Karatschi, since almost every tea shop in the city serves tea with falsified milk and chemically recorded leaves. The findings of the Sindh Food Authority (SFA) underline a significant threat to public health in the largest city of Pakistan.

During an alarming inspection, 127 tea stalls and shops were rated in Karatschi, which showed 100% contamination in tea leaves and 90% milk. This development contributes to Pakistan's fights with inflation and institutional decay and even marks a basic cup of tea as dangerous.

According to the SFA, milk samples contained cleaning agents, carbonates and other dangerous additives. In the meantime, all 110 analyzed tea leaf samples with polyphenols were spoiled for cost -senses by manufacturers with polyphenols, which pointed out a strong collapse of the regulation of governance and public health.
