Measure. Man who was charged after he had fled the stolen car and hit pedestrians

A Billerica man is charged in a stolen car in connection with the escape from the scene of a car accident in Lowell and then hit a pedestrian, the district prosecutor of Middlesex County said.

The 30 -year -old Christopher Campbell was accused of leaving two cases of assault and an attack and a battery with a dangerous weapon that causes serious assault, carjacking, theft of a motor vehicle, negligent surgery and a marked violations of the lanes, said the public prosecutor in a press version.

Around 10:25 p.m. on Saturday Campbell crashed his Volkswagen Jetta into another car in the Boylston and Rogers Street area in Lowell, the public prosecutor said. After the crash, Campbell got out of his car and jumped onto the bonnet of the other car while screaming.

The other driver was scared and fled from her car, said the public prosecutor. Campbell then steel the other driver car.

A few minutes later, Campbell drove the stolen vehicle onto the sidewalk in the Rogers Street and met a pedestrian, the public prosecutor said. The man who was hit was brought to a nearby area hospital with life -threatening injuries.

Shortly after 11 p.m., the state police received several reports on a car without a light when driving irregularly and stopped in the left lane of the I-495 South in Franklin, the public prosecutor said. A short time later, the state police received a report that the car had been hit by another car while it was stopped on the left lane.

The soldiers reacted to the scene and found the car left, the public prosecutor said. During their investigation, the soldiers found that the Lowell car had been stolen.

The state police and the Franklin police have built a radius and began to search for Campbell, which they found in a permeability on the other side of the highway, the public prosecutor said. When he saw the police, he started screaming that he had a gun.

The Franklin police struck him and allowed him to be arrested without further incident, the public prosecutor said. Campbell is expected to be charged on Monday before the Lowell district court.

The authorities still investigate the accidents. No further information was published.
