The Peshawar -Bus terminal scandal reveals fake guarantees and bad constructions

A report by the Ministry of Planning and Development has given a bad building and a fake bank guarantee in the Peshawar Bus Terminal Project.

According to the report, the bus terminal project is delayed due to the inferior building and the submission of a fake performance bank guarantee by the contractor.

The report states that civil servants worked together for the financial profit in the project. While 48% of the funds were issued, only 30% of the physical work was completed. In the construction work, inferior hard tiles, rusted steel and poor quality were used.

“Environmental protection and other requirements were also not included. Treasurer was intentionally responsible for the delay of the project.”

The report recommends improvements to the design and reconstruction of the inferior work. It also demands measures against the officials involved and the introduction of punishments.

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has informed the secretary of the local government about the investigation into PDA officials and the companies involved.

In March, the Prime Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ali Amin Gandapur, visited the Peshawar bust terminal from Peshawar, where he received a detailed review of various aspects of the project.

During the briefing, it was found that 75% of the work on the Peshawarbust terminal has been completed and will be completed by June of this year. The terminal comprises 323 channels and is completed at a price of 3.67 billion rupees. The modern bus stop comprises a mosque, parking spaces, rest areas, washrooms and all the necessary facilities. A solar system and CCTV cameras are also installed at the terminal.
