Trump's former Vice President Mike Pence to get the JFK Courage Award

The former Vice President of Donald Trump, Mike Pence, receives a John F Kennedy profile in Courage Award on Sunday because he refused to support false claims that the election was stolen in 2020.

Pence opposed Trump by rejecting it during a congress meeting on January 6, 2021, to throw votes against Joe Biden.

The former Vice President remained in the US Capitol when he was stormed by hundreds of trump supporters and led the certification of the choice after the building was cleared.

The award, named after a book by President Kennedy, is awarded by the JFK Library Foundation.

Former recipients include former President Barack Obama and George HW Bush, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, former democratic house spokesman Nancy Pelosi and the former Republican Congress Member Liz Cheney.

After Trump lost the 2020 vote, he gave broad claims that fraud and fraud cost him to vote, and claimed a great conspiracy that even Republican states like Georgia.

The US Vice President leads the Senate, and in this role Pence opposed the call from Trump and his followers to try to overthrow the election results.

Although there was no difficult evidence to secure Trump's accusations, his supporters aimed at the congress certificate of the election, usually a routine procedure, on January 6, 2021.

Trump publicly criticized Pence and asked him to stop the certification process. Some of the Capitol randalers sang “Hang Mike Pence” when they violate security.

Trump's attempts to lift the vote of 2020 later led to several criminal matters that have largely subsided since winning the presidential election of last year.

After he had been inaugurated for the second time, Trump pardoned the convictions of all defendants or convicted or convicted convictions with the Capitol uprising – a total of more than 1,500 people.

President Kennedy published his book profiles as courage in 1957. It included short profiles of eight US senators who had suffered fundamental stands and as a result of criticism and a falling popularity.

The Kennedy family founded the award named after the book in 1989.

At the announcement of the award last month, the JFK Library Foundation Pence “praised that he jeopardized his life and career to ensure the constitutional transfer of the presidential power on January 6, 2021.

Pence receives the award from Kennedy's daughter Caroline Kennedy and his grandson Jack Schlossberg in the JFK library in Boston.

In a statement, the former Vice President said that he was “deeply humble and honored”.

Since the office of office, Pence has largely been avoided by Trump and the Republican Party. His own run for President in 2024 drew loud support and ended months before the start of the Republican primary elections.

He has set up a conservative political campaign group that drives American freedom that criticizes what it calls “radical left and liberal media”, and has also campaigned against the appointment of Robert F. Kennedy JR.
